In February, I had the great blessing to accompany Shri Sadgurudev Ji Maharaj on some of his Yatras within India after many months. What follows is a brief description and some photos in the service of all devotees of Shri Guru & Shri Gopala.
1. Pathmedha – 250,000 Gau Mata Darshan and Vinaya Patrika Katha Shravan
The current abbot of the Maluk Peetha in Vrindavan of the Shri Ramanandacharya Sampradaya, is Swami Shri Rajendra Das Ji Maharaj. He has blessed devotees at Shri Golok Dham Ashram many times by his presence and most importantly his erudite delivery of Shrimad Bhagavat Katha during a past anniversary festival at Golok Dham New Delhi.
In order to recuperate after an ailment, he decided to undertake the very difficult Doodh-Kalpa austerity at what could be India’s largest Gaushala in Pathmedha, Rajasthan – about 200 miles east of Mt. Abu. During this time, he would be giving satsangs on the Vinaya Patrika of Goswami Shri Tulasidas Ji Maharaj.
Accordingly Shri Sadgurudev Ji left his busy schedule to attend this wonderful Katha and experience the bliss of living among such a vast number of Gau Mata. Upon reaching there, we were all amazed – it resembled the descriptions of Vraj that we find in Shrimad Bhagavat. The most ascetic Sant that single-handedly deals with the whole operation is the epitome of austerity and his service really should be supported by all that can. His main reason for being so far west in Rajasthan is that he goes to stop the black-market trade between Indians and Pakistanis who gather all the cows that roam in the streets and walk them over the boarder to Pakistan where they are mercilessly killed for their meat. As such, he has saved all of these cows and bulls that are there in Pathmedha Gaushala.
2. As we were near Mt. Abu, we drove on to Abu Road, where the old Nimbarki temple of Paat Naaraayan Bhagavan exists. This most ancient Ashram is currently being overseen by the Ayurvedacharya (Vaidya) Brahmachari Shri Yugal Sharan Ji Maharaj and his disciples. Shri Yugal Sharan Ji Maharaj is in his late 80’s and has had the Darshan of the Lord many times – yet he looks as if he is in his late 50’s. His life’s work is offering pure Ayurvedic treatment to all who need it, and indeed is the Vaidya of our Jagadguru Nimbarkacharya Shri Shriji Maharaj and also of our Shri Sadgurudev Ji Maharaj too.
3. On the way back to Vrindavan for Vasant Panchami, we stopped in Mathura to attend a Childrens Programme for Vasant Panchami, and Shri Sadgurudev Ji Maharaj blessed them all, stating that it is from amongst children like these that our Swami Haridas, Meera Bai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Jhansi ki Raani etc came, and it would do good for all if personalities like these were emulated and given exposure to rather than the riff-raff that occupy the airwaves and bandwidth these days. Devotees then gifted each child in the school with paper, pens and Prashadam along with an informative pamphlet on Hindu Student Ideals.
